I've noticed that irmin has a cleanup request, but I could not find any discussion about it here, even in the archives. That being said, one of the request's points of complaint is that a reference link on the entry is non-functional; luckily, the Web Archive has a cache of the page, so that's one problem dealt with. That source (entitled "Indogermanisches Etymologisches Woerterbuch [Pokorny]") doesn't have irmin in it, it only has this: "Darau klingt an anord. jo,rmuni `Rind, Pferd' und die PN got. *Ai/rmana-reiks, ags. Eormenri:c, aisl. Jo,rmunrekr, mhd. Ermenri:ch; dasselbe erste Glied zur Bezeichnung von etwas gros|em auch z. B. in Ermunduri `Gros|thu"ringer', anord. jo,rmungrund `die weite Erde' = ags. eormengrund, ahd. irmindeot, as. Irmin-su:l, und in der Kurzform Herminones.". At best that gives (*)irmin- = great. --2003:F8:13C7:59D1:2952:6150:4D4:3CAC 14:11, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It simply isn't attested; the same was the case for OHG ermen. I have deleted both; their contents are now at irmin-, which is also the OHG form attested in actual texts. — Mnemosientje (t · c) 16:48, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Resolved: Turns out not a single one of the supposed reflexes of *ermunaz is actually attested outside compounds, so I did a little cleanup. — Mnemosientje (t · c) 17:02, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
