Andalusian Arabic or North African pronunciation[edit]

What does "probably representing an Andalusian Arabic or North African pronunciation" mean? 05:37, 7 December 2015 (UTC)

It means that it comes from Arabic العُود(al-ʿūd), where al-‘ūd is the Modern Standard Arabic pronunciation, but in this case, it was borrowed in Al-Andalus, or Muslim Spain, where the pronunciation in Andalusi Arabic was probably more like /lʕawd/ or /lʕut/. —Stephen (Talk) 06:43, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
