Money sense

[edit]

John Camden Hotten's Slang Dictionary (1873) has a more specialised sense: "Menavelings, odd money remaining after the daily accounts are made up at a railway booking-office,—usually divided among the clerks. See overs and shorts." I don't know whether we can cite this. Equinox 21:48, 11 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
