Word family

This "word family" consisting of người (“human being, person”), ngươi (“pupil”), ngươi (“you (derogatory)”), ngài (“you (honorific)”) was surprisingly already mentioned in an article by Phan Khôi from 1936:

Now Phan Khôi himself was no linguist and I don't think he had any training in etymology at all and his other attempts at word-linking in the same article are very much hit-or-miss with more misses than hits, but I still think it's interesting that nearly 90 years ago someone already spotted this set.
