Definition is a bit off[edit]

IMO it's not quite right to say a "nose out of joint" is "an emotional state", because you can't be "in" one. Unsure how to rephrase it though. Equinox 22:24, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The headword doesn't seem ideal either because "out of joint" is not subordinate to "nose" — i.e. "put X's nose out of joint" is syntactically more akin to "buy milk from a shop" than "buy milk from a cow". Equinox 16:28, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
