French feminine plural in English[edit]

Gaskell, writing in English (but on the theme of France), uses the French feminine plural in English (no italics) — at least, I assume this is the adjective and not the noun plural:

  • 1861, Elizabeth Gaskell, The Grey Woman
We had discussed the route which it would be well for us to take while we lay perdues in our loft.
