@Morgengave I'd appreciate your input on two questions. 1 - Are the sense "penis" and the subsense "euro" (or any other subsense for monetary unit) used in Belgium? 2 - Would the sense "beer from Louvain" be better placed under peterman? Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 13:26, 14 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Lingo Bingo Dingo As euro: no. As penis, haven't heard it being used in that sense, but "piet" is a common informal word for penis, and I guess "(kleine) pieterman" would be a logical humorous variation on it. As the Leuven beer, believe it's just the local dialectal pronunciation: in many Brabantian citylects, a long -e ("ee") is pronounced as -ie. That sense doesn't warrant an entry in my view. @Morgengave So would you recommend to have that sense removed here as well? Is it a specific brand? I thought that is simply referred to a style or type of beer from Leuven. Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 13:16, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Lingo Bingo Dingo I did some research and learned something today. While I know that the main church in Leuven is the St-Pieterskerk, I did not make the connection with this lemma. Due to the importance of this church, people from Leuven, as well as (a type of light brown) beer from Leuven, are known as "pietermannen". As Pieter is a derivation from Latin Petrus, the variant "petermannen" also exist. Morgengave (talk) 19:42, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Morgengave That may actually justify putting it in its own etymology section, as the senses relating to coins and fish seem to be related.[1] Also, it seems that the sense "inhabitant of Leuven" is capitalised in most cases in recent texts.

Het is dit jaar 550 jaar geleden dat in Leuven de eerste steen werd gelegd van het prachtige stadhuis. Reden voor de Pietermannen, oftewel de inwoners van Leuven, om heel 1998 feest te vieren.
