Our entry says it's a beard players grow. But cites show fans with things called playoff beard, and the owner of the Brewers (a baseball team) with one, too. So AFAICT it's just "beard for playoffs". Dictionaries define words in isolation, which is why citations are so useful, meanings can be hard to decipher even when well-written, a good citation adds a lot of any term in my opinion, and it shows how to use it in running text. --Mglovesfun (talk) 12:35, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
- The entry reads - A beard grown by members of a sports team as a sign of unity or good luck during the postseason. I've bolded the part that is not obvious to those unfamiliar with the term. The constituent parts do not show this. It requires prior knowledge.--Dmol 00:33, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
