This term should not be hyphenated; see http://www.onelook.com/?w=semiaquatic&ls=a and http://www.onelook.com/?w=semi-aquatic&ls=a. WolfmanSF (talk) 05:28, 10 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

There's no "should" about it. It's often used this way, and I believe this form occurs in dictionaries. It's a question of taste, like antismoking vs. anti-smoking. Equinox 19:32, 12 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
No, it does not occur in dictionaries. It doesn't help to pontificate if you haven't done your research. The hyphen is incorrect, without qualification, in both U.S. and British/world English (see http://www.onelook.com/?w=semi-aquatic&ls=a and http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/us/definition/english/semiaquatic?q=semi-aquatic). It is not a question of taste; those who use it this way are mistaken. WolfmanSF (talk) 19:59, 9 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
We are a descriptive dictionary (like all major dictionaries) and therefore go by usage, not by "should" or snobbish opinions. If you dispute the existence of the term, take it to WT:RFV where (if you are correct) you will have no problem in getting it removed from this site. Equinox 00:55, 10 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
