i wonder if this can ever be standard. e.g. sense 10 on sleep says "i sleep the computer". this seems detached enough from the original sense to follow patterns like flied out and maybe striked ... which i thought was bowling but seems to not be. Soap 18:37, 17 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Maybe the common bond among these irregular regulars is that they are formed from nominalized forms of the verb, so in our minds the original verb's morphology feels inappropriate. I flied out means someone caught my fly ball, I striked (if it exists) means I threw a strike, and I sleeped them means I cast a sleep spell on some people or put the work computers into sleep mode.
