How can I show two definite singular without ****ing up the template?Jonteemil (talk) 21:41, 25 August 2016 (UTC)

- According to SAOL, racket has only one declension: -en, -ar. Where did you get the idea that it could be a neutral word? I guess you need to cite a reference for that. But anyway, if you have alternative declensions, I guess you need to call the template twice, i.e. to have two boxes under each other. --LA2 (talk) 00:26, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
- As a Swede I have always said "ett tennisracket" and "tennisracketet eller tennisracket" but never "tennisracketen" in singularis. Do you say "en racket?" LA2? After a check on various forums on google I see that both genders are in use. The common genus seems to be the one that exists in dictionaries such as SAOL, Nationalencyklopedin etc. Although the neuter gender seems to dominate the use with about the double of the use of the common gender. - Yes, I say "en", just like SAOL, and like the text of the Swedish Wikipedia article. When you use "ett", what is the plural form? --LA2 (talk) 02:24, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
- I say "ett racket" "två racketar". That makes it an irregular noun. Just like "ett finger" and "två fingrar" which also can be declinated "en finger" "två fingrar".Jonteemil (talk) 12:55, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
- As you can see, finger does have two declension boxes under each other. I've introduced this solution here too, and added a Usage note. However, in Google hits, tennisracketen outnumbers tennisracketet by 10 to 1. --LA2 (talk) 14:34, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
