Etymology from "twin"

[edit]

> A character added to a sigil to denote its scope.

From the Glossary in "Learning Perl 6: Keeping the Easy, Hard, and Impossible Within Reach" By brian d foy, OReilly https://books.google.se/books?id=sbRqDwAAQBAJ

https://docs.raku.org/language/variables.html#Twigils says:

> each twigil combines with a regular sigil to denote the scope.

The "tw" in the name is to be understood as something like "twin-character sigil". — This comment was unsigned.
