Possible missing sense: type of handkerchief[edit]
John Camden Hotten's Slang Dictionary (1873) defines waterman as "a blue silk handkerchief. The friends of the Oxford and Cambridge boats' crews always wear these—light blue for Cambridge, and a darker shade for Oxford." Equinox ◑ 05:43, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
