Usage

[edit]

This template may be used on Wikipedia entry pages to quote from Vuk Stefanović Karadžić’s original publication of Narodne srpske pjesme (1823–1833, in four volumes). It can be used to create a link to an online version of the work at the Internet Archive.

Parameters

[edit]

The template takes the following parameters:

  • |1= or |poem= – The name of the poem to be quoted.
  • |2= or |volume= — The volume number to be quoted from, either in Arabic or Roman numerals. Must be between 1 and 4 (inclusive).
  • |3= or |page=, or |pages=mandatory in some cases: the page number(s) to be quoted from. When quoting a range of pages, note the following:
    • Separate the first and last page numbers of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=110–111.
  • |pageref= – specifies the URL piece the template should link to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears), if not a normal page number marked with |page=.
  • |line= or |lines= – the line number(s) of the work quoted. Separate the first and last numbers of the range with an en dash.
  • |4=, |text=, or |passage= – a passage to be quoted from the work.
  • |5=, |t=, or |translation= – the English translation of the quoted passge.
  • |lit= – if the quoted text is not in English and the translation supplied using t or translation is idiomatic, this parameter can be used to provide a literal English translation.
  • |brackets= – use |brackets=on to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, “some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell”) rather than an actual use of it (for example, “we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset”), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
