Template:ar-adj-an

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

This template is for displaying the headword line of Arabic adjectives that end in ـًى (-an) (e.g. مُثَنًّى (muṯannan, double)). The feminine, plural and feminine plural are regular but complex, and it is easier to have a template produce them.

Certain other templates are available for other types of regular adjectives:

  1. Adjectives with a regular feminine and sound masculine plural, such as مُفَضَّل (mufaḍḍal, preferable) and other augmented participles, should use {{ar-adj-sound}}.
  2. Relative adjectives (nisba), such as شَرْقِيّ (šarqiyy, eastern), should use {{ar-nisba}}.
  3. Adjectives ending in -in, such as مُسَاوٍ (musāwin, equal) or عَالٍ (ʕālin, high), should use {{ar-adj-in}}.

Parameters

[edit]
|1=

|pl=

Examples

[edit]

The code {{ar-adj-an|مُثَنًّى}} produces the following:

مُثَنًّى (muṯannan) (feminine مُثَنَّاة (muṯannāh), masculine plural مُثَنَّوْن (muṯannawn), feminine plural مُثَنَّيَات (muṯannayāt))

The declension section for an adjective like this looks as follows (note the use of sp to signal the sound masculine plural in ـَوْن (-awn)):
