Usage

This template is for use with terms whose meaning is uncertain (as is common with barely attested ancient languages.) It adds the page to Category:Language terms with uncertain meaning. The possible meanings should follow as subsenses.

Parameters

|1=

The language code.

|nohypothesis=1 or |nh=1

When no credible hypothetical meaning has been suggested, and thus there are no subsenses. This omits the text Possibilities include:.

|undetailed=1

When the general meaning is deducible due to the context that the word appears in (e.g. “an animal”, “a herb”) but further details are disputed. The general meaning should be placed immediately preceding the template, on the same definition line.

|nocat=1

Prevents the page from being added to Category:Language terms with uncertain meaning.

|nocap=1

Makes the first letter lowercase.
