Changes[edit]
@Vahagn Petrosyan Thanks for your various improvements to the template. But could you please explain:
- What is the purpose of the module invokation in generating the link? Is it to get e.g.
|pages=293-294
and just match the 293? - Why did you change the interface? Surely it would be a little less verbose to just use
|1=page number
instead of having to type|page=
or|pages=
.
Thanks for your immediate attention to this template, Kiril kovachev (talk・contribs) 20:51, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
- The answer to the first question is "yes". It also gets 293a ('a' means first column) or 293b ('b' means second column) to match 293.
- The first parameter is usually the headword, and pages and volumes are given with page=, pages=, volume=. That is the de facto standard on Wiktionary. Also, in your system it is impossible to specify multiple pages. Vahag (talk) 21:01, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Vahagn Petrosyan Okay, thanks. I was not aware there was such a standard. Thank you for cleaning this up. Kiril kovachev (talk・contribs) 02:04, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
Translated English name of the dictionary[edit]
May I suggest "Dictionary of Bulgarian Personal and Family Names"? It's a bit less literal, but also a bit more natural. Chernorizets (talk) 21:54, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Chernorizets Please go ahead and change it if you'd like. I also don't mind if we change the template name itself; I don't hate it how it is, but it's a little on the long side and kind of unmemorable... maybe you've got a better idea? Kiril kovachev (talk・contribs) 02:06, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Kiril kovachev changed the translation. As for the template's name itself, I'm fine with the current name; if I were to change it to anything, it would be
{{R:bg:Imena}}
. Chernorizets (talk) 02:20, 3 September 2023 (UTC)- @Chernorizets Alright, looks good. I'm happy with either of those template names personally as well. ^^^ Thanks for the update, Kiril kovachev (talk・contribs) 12:09, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Chernorizets On second thought, I just realized the acronym as it is doesn't really make much sense! Why did I not notice that the „у“ gets a letter in the acronym, but „имена“, which is clearly the more important part, doesn't? Just letting you know, I think I'm going to move it, since your idea is a nicer name anyway. Unless you have any objections. Kiril kovachev (talk・contribs) 00:09, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Kiril kovachev no objections, this sounds nicer. I'll miss Lee Fubb :-) Chernorizets (talk) 00:31, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Chernorizets So will I admittedly :') already gotten nostalgic over that quaint little acronym. It was cute while it lasted... farewell Lee... Kiril kovachev (talk・contribs) 00:34, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
