Gutenberg edition

[edit]

@Sgconlaw: What edition is the Gutenberg version based on? It looks like the "unexpurgated" edition (1960), but the template says 1928? Jberkel 11:26, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Found it, 1928 is the "original" private edition, presumably the source of the Gutenberg version? On the Internet Archive there's one version which is dated 1928, but it doesn't have any additional information (except "This edition is limited to 1500 copies"): https://archive.org/details/ladychatterleysl0000unse_m6k3/. – Jberkel 12:15, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Jberkel: glad you ascertained it. It’s often hard to tell which edition Project Gutenberg versions are based on, which is why I try not to use it if alternatives at Google Books, the HathiTrust Digital Library, or the Internet Ardhive exist. — Sgconlaw (talk) 13:07, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
