Why has this been deprecated?

[edit]

@Benwing2. We have en-noun, en-verb, en-adj etc. so what was wrong with this one? Not having to use it seems like yet another illogical inconsistency to memorise. Equinox 04:45, 21 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Equinox There was a discussion about this on WT:RFDO. Please feel free to add to that discussion. In general I believe we should have fewer language-specific templates, particularly those that are trivial wrappers around {{head}}, because each one behaves differently in its own way, which both adds to one's cognitive load and ends up being a real maintenance headache. As discussed in that section, I added the alias {{h}} for {{head}} as well as shorter part of speech aliases, so you can write {{h|en|phr}} instead of {{head|en|phrase}}, and it is shorter than {{en-phrase}} in number of keystrokes. @Benwing2: Thanks. I can live with it, although it's genuinely annoying (I have a UI background and there's nothing worse than flipping key shortcuts on somebody). Your "discussion" link doesn't work by the way: I could not find it. Equinox 04:51, 26 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
