3 scripts

[edit]

This isn't working when a language is written in 3 or more scripts like Azeri. --Vahagn Petrosyan 18:33, 4 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Done. The template now should work with languages written in up to four scripts. --Daniel. 19:12, 4 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

nisan

[edit]

Can you point me to the guideline on this. I don't quite get why Japanese can have an entry but not Hebrew. SpinningSpark 22:39, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Me neither. The rule is, we don't include transliterations. Japanese is an exception, as are some other Oriental languages, I think, but I have no idea why (or which). Hebrew, OTOH, is not an exception. That said, there is an English word Nisan, for which we have an entry.—msh210 (talk) 16:07, 21 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, you asked for a pointer to the rule, and I didn't provide one. Actually, I don't know where this rule is, if it's written anywhere. But it exists anyway.—msh210 (talk) 17:39, 21 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
At least in theory, Japanese has three scripts, and the Latin script is one of them. Mglovesfun (talk) 09:58, 30 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps someone should update template:langscript then.—msh210 (talk) 17:18, 30 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Template:langscript

[edit]

Like {{langfamily}} above, this template became somewhat less used when we moved over to /script subtemplates. It should be orphaned by now, but the software needs time to catch up so it's still listing some transclusions. Also, I wonder if I would need to nominate other templates that are part of our template language infrastructure? Like {{languagex}} or {{langprefix}}, which are becoming orphaned and obsolete as more uses are being converted to Module:language utilities. —CodeCat 22:48, 23 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Re your "Also…": Please don't get rid of {{langrev}} unless modules are substable. I use it in User:Msh210/format.js to find the code of a language given its name; it's very useful. (It can, however, be converted to subst-only, if that's its only use; and then it can AFAICT be converted to call the module instead of having its own lookup table.)—msh210 (talk) 18:43, 24 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Modules are substable. {{subst:#invoke:language utilities|lookup_language|en|scripts}} gives: Latn. —CodeCat 19:38, 24 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
