Traingate

  1. (informal, UK politics) A 2016 controversy around a video of the politician Jeremy Corbyn sitting on the floor of a supposedly crowded train, which Corbyn used in support of his policy to reverse the 1990s privatization of British railways. Later, CCTV images were released that appeared to show Corbyn walking past available seats, leading to accusations that the incident had been staged for political gain.
