Explanation of my name

I took the name Sylvanus (Latin, /silˈu̯aː.nus/, equivalent to English Woods) based on what I thought to be a semantic matching to my Chinese surname 梁. Upon reading the following definition for 梁 in the 說文解字 Shuowen Jiezi dictionary,

梁、水橋也。从木从水，刅聲。

I've come to the conclusion that perhaps Pontifex is a better translation.
