Nice use of Javascript! — Hippietrail 16:58, 20 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I hadn't realized I was quite so rusty at it. --Connel MacKenzie [+] (contribs) 16:59, 20 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, all are welcome to copy this, or #include it or whatever. Feedback (for now) is appreciated. Please be forewarned: some changes are made knowing that I am editing and previewing the entry manually; multiple inflection lines are listed and two out-of three need to be removed each time; dewikification, rewikification, templatizing, sbust:ing all happen with the assumption that they will be corrected before being saved, so use with caution. Once you have copied this to your own monobook.js, and reload (or restart your browser) the javascript is invoked whenever an "Edit" page is loaded or previewed. If too many changes (incorrect changes) are made, you can always safely "Cancel" the edit and remove your javascript file (or log out and edit it anonymously.) Also note that the javascript is only invoked for main namespace entries...talk pages, templates, user pages etc. are skipped. --Connel MacKenzie 17:35, 5 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This page is listed in the above category. Is it possible to avoid this? Ncik 23:43, 22 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly. --Connel MacKenzie T C 07:20, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Same problem with User_talk:Connel MacKenzie/typos, User:MGSpiller/monobook.js and User:Polyglot/monobook.js. Ncik 17:33, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Yikes! Could you please use my regular talk page. This one is hard(er) to notice. --Connel MacKenzie T C 22:34, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copying

Rather than having multiple different copies floating around, I found the proper way to transclude javascript pages within the Wiki realm.

 document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="'
             + 'http://en.wiktionary.org/w/index.php?title=User:Connel_MacKenzie/monobook.js'
             + '&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"></script>');

If anyone wants to copy this out somewhere, and split it into subpages, I'll be happy to redirect mine to it...that way I can use other people's corrections. But at the moment, I do not know where MediaWiki allows Javascript to execute from. And I don't feel like experimenting with it right now. --Connel MacKenzie T C 22:34, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps something obscure like Wiktionary:Project-Javascript library:... or something? --Connel MacKenzie T C 22:37, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding splitting, probably each function that is in this code currently should be a different page in that whatever pseudo-namespace. Anyone have better suggested pseudo-namespacing? Certainly not Javascript:... right? --Connel MacKenzie T C 22:42, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
