Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to one of the discussion rooms or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! --Connel MacKenzie 04:04, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Google hits

[edit]

There is really no need to provide links to Google hits all around. People can look for it themselves if they want to. We try to be neutral here. H. (talk) 14:13, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, and please have a look at our formatting conventions: no bullet before etymologies, a number instead of a bullet before definitions and no translations to other languages on non-English words/phrases. H. (talk) 14:16, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Idioms

[edit]

I do really like all your work on the Vietnamese and Japanese idioms. However, just giving a literal translation often does not suffice to explain what it is used for. Could you maybe give some additional information in this respect? Either as part of the definition, or as a separate ====Usage notes==== section. H. (talk) 08:48, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
