Rhoticism

[edit]

Hi! When you make edits like this, you change a correct but lazily concise statement of the pronunciation, which reflects that the RP pronunciation is /ˈwɪndfʌkə/ while the GA pronunciation is /ˈwɪndfʌkəɹ/, into an incorrect statement that gives the RP pronunciation as rhotic. Likewise, this changes a pan-dialectally correct (albeit lazily unlabelled) pronunciation to a specifically rhotic/US pronunciation without marking it as such. Please be careful to preserve the distinction, like this. Also, yit might be wise to raise the question in the WT:BP of whether to prefer the notation /əɹ/ or /ɚ/; the "IPA (key)") which every pronunciation section links to, Appendix:English pronunciation, currently prefers /əɹ/ for consistency with other vowel + r sequences like /ɒɹ/, /ɔːɹ/, /ɑɹ/, and entries are — as you have seen — quite inconsistent. - -sche (discuss) 02:24, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Changing rhymes to be rhotic

[edit]

Hi - please don't make changes like this, where you changed the rhyme to be rhotic. We don't include rhoticity in our rhyme groupings, so all you did was change the category to be wrong. Theknightwho (talk) 10:10, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
