Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to one of the discussion rooms or ask me on my Talk page.

Did you know that Wiktionary can be adapted to fit your style? Go have a look at your personal preference page (nicknamed “PREFS”)! In particular, you can choose the option to show hidden categories, which will be of great help if you are looking for work to do.

Again, welcome! --EncycloPetey 00:38, 30 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Formatting[edit]

Please format entries in the way I have cleaned up your entry shirt-sleeve. If you get stuck consult one of the links above (that EncycloPetey) or ask me, EncycloPetey or anyone else who has been here for a while--50 Xylophone Players talk 01:07, 30 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

If a page is tagged for cleanup, please clean it up only after learning how entries are formatted on English Wiktionary. See, e.g., the recent history of rag-and-bone shop or nail one's colours to the mast: your cleanup of it and mine. Mine is in accord (I thihnk) with Wiktionary conventions, and yours was not. I, for one, appreciate your good intentions in trying to clean up, and I'm sure others do, too, but it's no hel at all if someone has to come along after you and clean up what you've left. (Moreover, you remove the cleanup-necessary tag, which is counterproductive, as the page needs cleanup still.)—msh210 17:46, 4 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Let me emphasize that it's great that you're adding new entries. Sorry if the preceding paragraph sounded harsh.—msh210 17:53, 4 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Agree, we need more enthusiastic editors here! Check out WT:ELE and WT:CFI for what Msh and I are talking about (click the blue links). Mglovesfun (talk) 14:48, 10 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
But you are still not formatting your entries properly! SemperBlotto 15:23, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
