You need to learn how Wiktionary does entries so that your work doesn't require so much cleanup. You've already learned a bit (your edits at come were almost useless), but you need to get it all right. For instance, you created an Old French entry, which we treat as a separate language with the language code "fro", but you used {{fr-verb}}, which is for modern French entries (language code "fr"). Also, it's good that you're consulting references, but we don't use them the same way that many other wikis do. Here's our welcome template, with links to the basic information you need. You should also look at similar entries to see how they do the same things. Chuck Entz (talk) 00:15, 13 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Still making mistakes

[edit]

Your latest entry for obnoxieux is just as bad as the previous ones. You need to be more careful or you may eventually end up blocked (when other people get tired of cleaning up your entries). Benwing2 (talk) 02:07, 27 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

How ? I am just helping out. I am still struggling with the policies it is why. Nightcore8365 (talk) 04:19, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
On the basis of a 17th century letter, you created an entry for Old French, a language that died out in the 14th century. Also, looking at the next edit, you'll see that basically every single thing you wrote had to be corrected except the link- and even that was a quote, not a reference. That's not just having trouble with the rules, that's being completely wrong AND having trouble with the rules. You wouldn't define a whale as "a tiny bird in the family Trochilidae that drinks nectar from flowers", because you know the difference between a hummingbird and a whale. You're straying into subjects where you have no clue about things that are just as basic and should be just as obvious.
Adding information that's totally wrong isn't helping out, it's forcing others to spend time on your mistakes instead of on their own stuff. It's like volunteering to drive a truck before you know how to drive, and running it through store windows or off a cliff- no one needs that kind of help. Yeah I understand what you are saying. I will be more careful in the future. Nightcore8365 (talk) 17:28, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
