thx

[edit]

Thanks, it's correct. I've only added the reflexive meaning. Shumkichi (talk) 19:43, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Transitivity

[edit]

Hey! Could tag any verbs you add with transitive or intransitive? That's the standard we've been doing. thanks! Vininn126 (talk) 21:44, 11 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey! Of course, I'll try to remember! Thanks for pointing that out Tashi (talk) 11:19, 12 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Unknown origin

[edit]

Btw, if a word TRULY does have an unknown etymology, you should use {{unk|pl|Uncertain}}. That puts it into category of "Polish etymologies with unknown origins". Vininn126 (talk) 12:20, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! Oh, there are so many templates here haha. Tashi (talk) 12:21, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Btw. @Vininn126 where did you find the etymology? I've been trying to find it and I couldn't. Do you have some kind of a special source? Tashi (talk) 12:22, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm about 95% sure it's a variation of koja, as you marked yourself, which in turn, if you check, comes from German. Vininn126 (talk) 12:23, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
You might also want to check out Wielki Słownik Wyrazów Obcych from PWN. I made a reference template, but the physical book is full of good etymologies. And of course WSJP is reliable, and finally Bruckner has a decent selection of etymologies. Vininn126 (talk) 12:25, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Oh, witty :) You're probably right! Thank you. Tashi (talk) 12:26, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I know you're from the US but you live in Poland. Are you a linguist? If you'd like to talk about language or you would need a native for some research or simply for something linguistic-related you're curious about, just hit me up :) Tashi (talk) 12:27, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Citations

[edit]

Hey! Web citations are okay, but of course book citations are best. You might wanna check out Quiet Quentin in your gadgets (in preferences), it checks google books automatically for you and even generates the citaiton templates. Vininn126 (talk) 17:08, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the heads-up, mate! Tashi (talk) 17:20, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Muminek

[edit]

Tashi (talk) 07:33, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Rzeszowski Polish

[edit]

@KamiruPL, Vininn126

What do you think of the idea of looking for Rzeszowski Polish words and adding them here? -- Apisite (talk) 09:58, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Do you mean like Podkarpacie? I want to improve the coverage of dialects using dialektologia as a source/reference. Vininn126 (talk) 10:00, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
if you have a reliable source with well-documented vocabulary, why not. We've already got Podkarpacie, is that what you mean? Tashi (talk) 10:01, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Tashi, KamiruPL, Vininn126: I had (almost) no idea, that Rzeszowski Polish is a Subcarpathian variety. --Apisite (talk) 10:04, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Apisite I do agree that dialects should be expanded; I can begin to gather resources and improve the infrastructure. What led to you ask about specifically Rzeszowski? Vininn126 (talk) 10:05, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Tashi, KamiruPL, Vininn126: I have simply wanted to see what the variety is like, along with Lake Constance Alemannic. --Apisite (talk) 10:07, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Tashi, KamiruPL, Vininn126: Also, in addition to a book on Highlander Poles (Gorals) featuring their words as well as their culture, including riddles like the one mentioning a Saint Ursula and her pearls. --Apisite (talk) 10:10, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Górale. Well, we'd only be focusing on words, but once I finish some work for obsolete spellings, I can turn my attention towards this. Vininn126 (talk) 10:11, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
