Question

[edit]

What are your most prized possessions in there? PUC18:02, 20 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@PUC: probably the secret stuff that no one in Armenology knows they exist:
  • {{R:xcl:Kerestedjian}}
  • {{R:tr:Titer}}
  • {{R:oge:Abuladze:2014}}
  • Vrouyr, Répertoire étymologique de l'arménien dans ses relations avec les langues des pays voisins, 1993
  • Vrouyr, Les origines du vocabulaire arménien, 1930
  • Armeno-Kipchak Texts in the Alchemical Treatise by Andrzej Torosowicz (17th Century), 2005
  • Select Recipes from the Medical Hand Book of Poghos Eudoketsi, 2003
Also {{R:xcl:HAB1}}, which is extremely rare, but I am gifting it to Martirosyan. Vahag (talk) 22:03, 20 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Vahagn Petrosyan: Nice, nice. So aside from German, you have a working knowledge of French as well? I see you using French references all the time.
Wow, that's quite the gift. At least you know it'll be in good hands. How did you manage to find a copy and Hrach didn't, though? PUC14:14, 24 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
@PUC: I can understand all the important European languages in written form (German, French, Italian, Spanish).
I bumped into HAB's first edition accidently in an antiquarian bookshop in Yerevan. Hrach does not live in Armenia, so he has fewer chances for such serendipities. Vahag (talk) 19:05, 24 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Vahagn Petrosyan: I'm slowly getting interested in learning Armenian seriously. Are there any bilingual (English, French or Russian - Armenian) dictionaries on the market you'd recommend? And what's your favourite monolingual толковый словарь of Armenian? (Also pinging @Qehath) PUC09:59, 10 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

@PUC: that's cool, but I'm afraid you're wasting your time learning an unimportant language :) I am trying to cut my wiki-time, so I won't be able to help, but I can recommend {{R:hy:Barlezizyan}}, {{R:hy:ŽHLBB}} and Dora Sakayan, Eastern Armenian for the English-Speaking World (2007) as learning materials. Vahag (talk) 11:47, 10 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Vahagn Petrosyan: I know, I've got to get my priorities straight, but your alphabet and your women do look nice... So I'm going to buy a few books, which I'll save for later. Thanks for the recs, I've ordered the last one already.
As for reducing your activity here, no worries; my li'l list isn't going anywhere, she'll wait for you. PUC21:08, 10 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Armenian-Chinese Wordbooks?

[edit]

Have you ever come across any Armenian-Chinese dictionaries? What do you think of such dictionaries? -- Apisite (talk) 07:02, 2 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

I am not interested in languages outside of the Oikumene, so I haven't looked and seen anything on such an exotic pair. Vahag (talk) 18:28, 2 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I thought I would ask, because for one Thing, the Chinese Edition of Wiktionary would benefit from the Reference-templates of such Wordbooks. --Apisite (talk) 04:35, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
