     But those whom Cæso Fabius led against the Veientines (28), did not look upon him as a legitimate consul: - - (footnote 28) Thus Zonaras, VII. 17, and Dionysius, IX.2. so also the manuscripts in Livy, II.43, not the author, whose meaning unquestionably requires the change introduced by Sigonius, ducendus Fabio in Aequos in Veientes etc. But that the former is the correct view is proved decisively by the superiority of the Veientines after the campaign, while the Æquians were so far from this that Rome was able to turn all her forces against the others
