- The largest city and former capital of Myanmar (Burma). Formerly known as Rangoon, based on the spelling and Arakanese pronunciation of the city name. The MLCTS Burmese transliteration of both Yangon and Rangoon is "rankun" and the spelling for both is ရန်ကုန် (rankun). The administrative capital has been moved to Naypyidaw.
