From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old High German *zīd, northern variant of zīt, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Germanic *tīdiz. Cognate with German Zeit, Dutch tijd, English tide, West Frisian tiid, Icelandic tíð.
