Alternative forms[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Italian abolire.

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /a.bɔˈlɪʃ.ʃa/
  • (file)
  • Rhymes: -ɪʃʃa

Verb[edit]

abolixxa (imperfect jabolixxi, past participle abolit or abolut, verbal noun abolir)

  1. to abolish, to annul

Conjugation[edit]

  • The traditional rule is that the syllable -ixx- is lost before stressed endings; that is in the past tense, before -x, and before a pronominal suffix. The contemporary tendency is to either keep -ixx- in all forms or avoid it in all forms (see abola above).
