From English agnostic. Either from Ancient Greek ἄγνωστος ‎(ágnōstos, ignorant, not knowing) or from a- + Gnostic. Deriving (either way) from Ancient Greek ἀ- ‎(a-, not) + γιγνώσκω ‎(gignṓskō, I know).
