Borrowed from Sanskrit अलङ्कार, अलंकार (alaṅkāra, alaṃkāra, “an ornament of the sense or the sound”, literally “ornament, decoration”). Compare to Tamil அலங்காரம் (alaṅkāram, “figure of speech”).
