Arabic اَلْمَجِسْطِيّ(al-majisṭiyy, almagest), with ال(al-) being the Arabic definite article, from Middle Persian𐭬𐭢𐭮𐭲𐭩𐭪(magestīg), from Ancient Greek μεγίστη (megístē, greatest).
