Etymology

From Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (aparmaq), probably from *alıp barmak, equivalent to alıp, converb of almak (to take) + varmak (to go). Compare Uzbek obormoq, Uyghur ئاپارماق (aparmaq) and Azerbaijani aparmaq with the same meaning.

According to Ačaṙean, from the same (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Lua error in Module:parameters at line 360: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "ira" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E. source as Old Armenian ապուռ (apuṙ); see there for more.
