Pronunciation[edit]

  • (file)

Verb[edit]

apprehended

  1. simple past tense and past participle of apprehend

Adjective[edit]

apprehended ‎(comparative more apprehended, superlative most apprehended)

  1. (obsolete) Having come to accept an understanding of something.

Usage notes[edit]

As an adjective, "apprehended" is only used derived from the meaning (To take hold of with the understanding, that is, to conceive in the mind; to become cognizant of; to understand; to recognize; to consider). As a past participle, however, it is often used attributively in a way that looks like an adjective: The apprehended criminals were brought to the jail.
