From Russian ато́лл (atóll), Polish atol, German Atoll, English and French atoll, Italian atollo, all ultimately from Malayalam അതൊലു (atolu) and Dhivehi އަތޮޅު (atoḷu), from Sanskrit *संतीर्थ (saṃtīrtha, level ford).
