bake off (third-person singular simple present bakes off, present participle baking off, simple past and past participle baked off)

  1. (transitive, cooking) To cook (something) by baking.
    When you finish baking off the first batch, start the second.
  2. (intransitive) To be cooked by baking.
    The cake will finish baking off in an hour.
  3. (transitive) To cook off or reduce by baking.
    Six pounds of batter will bake off to three pounds of prepared product.
