ballast up (third-person singular simple present ballasts up, present participle ballasting up, simple past and past participle ballasted up)

  1. (transitive) To ballast (stabilize or load with a weight) (something, e.g. a ship).
    The ship was ballasted up with sand and rocks.
  2. (transitive) To ballast (lay a material on the bed of a railroad track) a track.
    The workers ballasted up the tracks last month.
