From the (deprecated template usage) [etyl] French bdellomètre, from the (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek βδέλλα (bdélla, “leech”) + the (deprecated template usage) [etyl] French -mètre (“-meter”), itself from the (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek μέτρον (métron, “(something used to) measure”).
