Alternative forms[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Latin benedicō (I bless, praise). A more phonologically conserved variant is bënkoj, whereas the standard form was possibly affected by be (oath) considering the lack of reduction of the unstressed vowel.[2][3]

Pronunciation[edit]

  2. I wish well
