English[edit]

Noun[edit]

bornyl (uncountable)

  1. (organic chemistry, especially in combination) A univalent radical derived from bornane.

Etymology - The name bornyl is derived from Borneol, which in turn is derived from Borneo, an island of Indonesia. It is because the latter was first extracted in Borneo. It is thus a rare chemical compound, which is also a toponym.
