[edit]Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from Romanian brânză, of unclear origin. Perhaps the ultimate source is Albanian brëndës (“intestines”), as the term originally referred to cheeses prepared in a sheep's stomach by reacting with the rennet inside.[1]
