English[edit]

Etymology[edit]

coolie +‎ -ism

Noun[edit]

coolieism (uncountable)

  1. (historical) The role or status of a coolie (type of Asian worker).
    • 1996, Noel Martin Douglas Rae, Witnessing America, page 46:
Slavery gave the master power to destroy all the distinctive heathenism which the African brought with him, and he did destroy it. But coolieism gives the employer no such power, and he does not do it.
