Coined by Canadian activist Drew Deveaux. Modelled on glass ceiling. Underwear is typically made from cotton.

cotton ceiling (plural cotton ceilings)
- A social barrier to consideration (by cis people) of transgender people as viable sexual partners. Often directed at lesbian women's definition of homosexuality as same-sex attraction, rather than same-gender attraction.
