cuamil (plural cuamiles)

  1. A cuamil, (plural: cuamiles), is the term for a slanted field, set atop a mountain slope, in which maize, bean, or squash is farmed. Cuamiles are found on rugged, mountainous areas of west-central Mexico. The word cuamil, comes from the Nahuatl words cuahuitl, which means "tree", and milli which means "heritage".
