[edit]From Late Latin decasyllabus, from Ancient Greek δεκασύλλαβος (dekasúllabos), from δέκᾰ (déka, “ten”) + σῠλλᾰβή (sullabḗ, “syllable”). By surface analysis, deca- + sillabo.
