1. (rare, nonce word) an adherent of demolatry, especially in a derogatory sense of having an excessive regard for the common people
   • 1987, Giovanni Sartori, “2.2: The People in Mass Society”, in The Theory of Democracy Revisited, page 25:

     The demolater does speak of "real people"; but he ends, in truth, with making a fetish of an ideal people accurately placed out of sight.
